uMfolozi Municipality

The uMfolozi Local Municipality, led by His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Xolani Bhengu, hosted a successful community prayer service today, 30 October 2026, at eNhlabane in Ward 03. The civic event was organized to collectively intercede for peace during the upcoming elections, support local students currently writing their final examinations, condemn gender-based violence (GBV), and address the multi-faceted challenges confronting local communities.

The prayer gathering demonstrated strong civic and traditional unity, bringing together the Mfolozi Pastors’ Forum, honourable municipal councillors, representatives from the Mbuyazi Royal Household, residents, and municipal administrative staff led by the Municipal Manager, Mr Fred Mazibuko.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Bhengu expressed his profound gratitude to the Mfolozi Pastors’ Forum for their unwavering spiritual guidance and continued partnership with the municipality, noting that their presence remains vital in maintaining social stability across the region. In a gesture of deep respect, the Mayor presented a cow to Mbuyazi traditional leadership.

Demonstrating a hands-on commitment to local economic development and community support, Mayor Bhengu distributed umbrellas to informal traders to help shield them and their merchandise from harsh weather conditions. Additionally, responding directly to an official request previously submitted by pastors within the Mbuyazi community, the Mayor handed over a set of newly purchased musical instruments. This resource injection ensures local congregations no longer rely on borrowed equipment to conduct their church services.
