



One hundred senior citizens from the uMfolozi Local Municipality received Christmas gifts, including R1 000 grocery vouchers, walking sticks, and a box of biscuits, at KwaMbonambi Town Hall on Tuesday, 9 December 2025.
Each councillor brought five elders from their ward, prioritising those caring for orphaned grandchildren or without pension support.
Members of the Senior Citizens Committee were also part of the celebrations and received gifts, including blankets, to keep them warm during the holiday season. The Mayor of King Cetshwayo District Municipality, Cllr Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, attended the event, joining in the celebrations and showing solidarity with the local municipality’s efforts to support the elderly. Councillors from various wards also accompanied the seniors to ensure that the event was inclusive and representative of all communities.
Mayor Xolani Bhengu urged young people to respect and protect the elderly.
