Shop owners in Ntuthunga, ward 13 under the Mfolozi Municipality, were encouraged to register for legal trading permits to operate within the law on the 26th of November 2025 during a business compliance blitz. This initiative formed part of a campaign to ensure that businesses comply with trading regulations.

The campaign included participation from the uMfolozi Local Economic Development (LED) office, the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Customs, SAPS, the King Cetshwayo Environmental Health Department, the uMfolozi Fire and Traffic Departments.  Shop owners were advised not to sell expired food or illegal products. Deputy Mayor Councillor Timothy Biyela commended the Ntuthunga business owners for managing their shops and not renting them out, highlighting that their efforts help sustain the local economy and prevent it from shifting to other areas.
