Nkunzebomvu Multipurpose Centre officially opened

The new Multipurpose Centre was officially opened on Thursday, 29 January 2015 by the Mayor of uMfolozi Municipality, CIIr Smangaliso Mgenge. The event was also attended by Municipal Manager, Mr KE Gamede, Speaker, Cllr ZD Mfusi and Councillors of uMfolozi Municipality.

The R2-million project involved the construction of a 245.6m², multi-purpose community building located in Ward 3. This facility will be made available to be used for community gatherings such as public meetings, cultural and tourism events and other community activities. The facility has three male and female toilets, as well as toilets for disabled people, a storeroom, kitchen, a stage and two water tanks.

Mayor Mgenge said that this will be of great benefit to the community, and it is therefore the responsibility of all community members to ensure that it is clean and safe from vandalism.

“Today’s celebration is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when local government and private sectors work together. This new multi-purpose centre will serve the entire community, demonstrating the importance of  investing in all corners of our community. As a result of our investment in the Nkunzebomvu Multipurpose Centre, local residents and families have access to a high-quality community facility. Our support for the development of this project is rooted in the knowledge that modern, sustainable community infrastructure is essential to a community’s long-term growth and development,” said Mgenge.
