Mfolozi Municipality is to benefit from new acquisition
The aim of the new vehicles is to assist municipal employees do their work better and thus speed up service delivery.
In an effort to accelerate service delivery in the community of KwaMbonambi, the uMfolozi Local Municipality has purchased a fleet of vehicles, a trucks and a grader to help officials in its various departments. The Mayor of uMfolozi Municipality, Cllr SW Mgenge together with councillors and other heads of departments officially handed over these vehicles to their respective departments on Thursday, 12 February 2015.
The fleet of new vehicles will be used in various departments of the municipality and will enable the municipality to overcome shortage of transport which has been hindering speedy service delivery for the community. The Municipality saw it befitting to invest in buying a new fleet, the purpose behind this initiative is to ensure that the municipality keeps and fulfil its primary responsibility and task of ensuring and enhancing service delivery speedily to the community.
The Mayor said that it is now going to be easy to deliver services to communities within this municipality because they are now able to reach all the areas easily and the new grader would ease the municipality’s burden since it is facing a growing demand for graded roads.
“We are convinced as the municipality that this initiative will benefit our community in a very positive way and bridge a gap between complaints and the response within a reasonable time,” said the Mayor.
He further added that the municipality is responding to the plea made by the MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mrs Nomusa-Dube Ncube for municipalities across the country to going back to basics. Back to Basics is the new plan expected to focus municipalities on getting small things right such as fixing street lights, leaking taps and collecting refuse. The municipality is positive that this is going to be an attempt at breathing new life into municipalities.
