State of the Art Mawombe Sport Complex Officially Opened by MEC
Provincial MEC for Arts and Culture, Sports and Recreation Bongi Sithole-Moloi officially handed over the Mawombe Sports Complex in Cinci Ward 11, on Tuesday 16 April 2019.
The Mawombe Sports Complex is a state of the art sports facility that comprises of a fenced football field with change rooms and ablution facilities, basketball court, tennis court, volleyball court, netball court, and an outdoor gym.
The facility is a first of its kind in the area and has been described as a most welcome intervention by both the local sports enthusiasts and school communities.
The MEC also handed over sports kits to local teams, 10 wheelchairs to Disability Forum and tools to maintain the sports field.
His Worship the Mayor Cllr Smangaliso Mgenge thanked the Department of Sport and Recreation for building a state of the art facility in uMfolozi and urged the community to make use of it and guard against vandalism.
MEC Bongi-Sithole visited two schools where she handed over combo courts, New Patane Primary School in Ward 11 and Nhlabosini Primary School in Ward 10.
A Mobile Clinic with consultation rooms, toilet and air-conditioning were also handed over by the MEC.
King Cetshwayo District Municipality Mayor Cllr NNP Mkhulisi, Deputy Mayor Cllr A Mthembu, uMfolozi Municipality Deputy Mayor Cllr SR Thabethe, councillors from uMfolozi Municipality, Department of Sport and Recreation officials and school principals, attended this event.
