2015/16 Budget designed with the people of uMfolozi in mind!

Our approved Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget for the 2015/16 financial year was once again with the benefit of the people of uMfolozi in mind. We took extra care to make sure that our IDP is a key strategic planning tool which informs all our planning and budgeting process, driven by the needs of our community for us to achieve our ultimate vision of promoting an economical sound municipality with available infrastructure, empowering its people while demonstrating good governance in leadership.

Our approved budget for the 2015/16 financial year has been meticulously planned for the budget to go a long way in maintaining and growing our small Local Municipality and we do not doubt that much will be accomplished for our people in terms of service delivery.

We have doubled our budget on programmes which directly impact our community to effectively help and support initiatives that seek to alleviate the lives of our residents.  We have increased our budget for community services, in our effort to deal with issues such as poverty, local economic development, youth skills development and woman empowerment. We have even added funding for issues which we did not have a budget for in the past such as helping our senior citizens we all know that any community that neglects its elderly is bound not to fully flourish, we have also added public participation to encourage community engagement between our Municipality and its residents.

uMfolozi’s Municipal infrastructure grant will go a long way into the rehabilitation of our roads such as Thukwini in ward 1, Manqamu Road in ward 3 and Pitso Road in ward 5 is an objective we will accomplish, we will also add speed humps on Slovo Road while constructing new and rehabilitating children’s day care centres across our Municipality.

uMfolozi Municipality Mayor, honourable  councillor Smangaliso Mgenge and all councillors embarked on ward visits in Wards 1, 2, 4 and 13 to consult and  engage communities and stakeholders in terms of the Draft IDP/Budget documents for 2015/2016 financial year.

uMfolozi Municipality would like to thank the Financial Department for their tireless work in drafting the annual budget for 2015/16, much time and planning is required to draw up a budget that will help the people of uMfolozi.
